EdwardNygma
Name: Edward Nygma
Age: 28
Affiliation: Evil, my dear fellow
Occupation: Teacher/Thief. The Riddler, you know
Personality:
The Riddler is incredibly arrogant. He truly believes himself to be Gotham's greatest criminal mastermind, and he feels that he is above most of his fellow rogues. However, his superiority complex does not prevent him from allying with other criminals. A prominent member of the rogue's gallery, the Riddler has many connections and ties to other enemies of Batman. He is usually very unstable when defeated, but manages to keep his cool at all other times.
When it comes to others of the opposite gender is is, as well, rather charming and tends to woo rather easily, except when it comes to women who seem to be a little more..confident, as in firey red heads such as Pamela Isley.
Appearance:
Attacks, special abilities:Strengths::
Amazing Intellect-The Riddler possesses an almost superhuman intellect that no one else in the rogue's gallery can match. His puzzles, traps, and riddles are incredibly complex, and almost always take quite a while to figure out. Because of his incredible intellect, he is almost impossible to outsmart. The only DC hero that has defeated him in a battle of wits besides his archenemy Batman is Green Arrow...all of the other heroes that 'played against' the Riddler in the past failed to defeat him.
Skilled with technology- A former game designer and computer engineer, the Riddler has been able to create some of the most bizaare and complex gadgets ever used against the Dark Knight. These gizmos range from simple hacking devices, suck as door decoders and data uplinks, to gimmicky weapons, suck as exploding jigsaw pieces, to the incredible death traps that he lures his enemies into, such as virtual reality machines.
Talent with Words- Being a master of riddles and puzzles, he developed quite a large vocabulary which dripped with charm depending on who exactly he speaks to. He is in no universe a person who can not communicate with his foes allies or the like and often dumbs down what he says when explaining things to his partners in crime.
History:
Edward Nygma discovered how fun and challenging puzzles were when he was a young boy (he cheated on a puzzle in school to win a prize), and he gradually turned to crime as he matured.
The Riddler, unlike many of the other members of Batman's rogues gallery, is more of a cerebral than physical villain. Although he is quite suited for physical combat and often has weapons ready for use, he has probably always been among the least homicidal of the major Bat nemeses; indeed, one story showed him lamenting the rise of murderous villains ("What's happened to us? The Joker's killing people, for Christ's sake!").
His riddles are in fact a bizarre obsessive compulsion; his attempts to stop himself from sending them has met with failure time and time again. This extends to the fact he cannot simply kill his opponents when he has the upper hand, but prefers to put them in a deathtrap to see if he can devise a life and death intellectual challenge that the hero cannot escape. However, of Batman's themed enemies, Riddler's compulsion is quite flexible, allowing him to commit any crime as long as he can describe it in a riddle or puzzle. He often has two female assistants that help him, usually named a combination of Quiz, Query or Echo.
The Riddler is one of the few rogues that has deduced the true identity of the Batman. However, there is no major concern that the Riddler will leak the information As Batman explains: "What good is a riddle which everyone knows the answer to."
Love Interest: None specifically. Not at the moment, anyway
Code: Coin
Role Play Sample:
Edward was working lat that night. Of course, by working late, it goes with out saying, that he was not working on anything for Wayne Enterprises, but for something of his own design. It had been mere months since he decided to become, inspired by people like The Joker, a man bent on hell-raising. His was bound to be different, however. He didn't want to kill, per say. No, what he wanted was a wit that could match his own. He wanted something more.
He wanted to kill the Batman in a way that proved he, Edward Nygma, was smarter. He wanted anarchy, but anarchy not caused solely by violence, but with intellect as well. He wanted...Hell, he didn't really know what he wanted he had no idea what would come of his decision.
He did know, however, that the bombs he was designing this night in Wayne Enterprises, would catch the attention of a certain masked vigilante, regardless of police involvement. And that that attention would be brought to the first clue Nygma would be leaving for him to find.
And then, the games would begin.
